People i know die

Some people i know died over many months, some days, some in a moment.

Some obsolete. Some faulty mechanics. Some rampant mutation. Some just forgot they were not strong enough to withstand a mechanical impact.

Some died by choice. (Not always their own.) Most did not.

myself, i teetered on the edge.

Professional expectation was dire.

i was a hot boy.

(Not a compliment to make me blush and shuffle my feet.)

i was a hot boy.

Flushed and thrashing

A viral fever, raging fire through my brain and systems.

i'm told, i was not going quietly.

i'm told, i groaned and mewled.

i'm told, i gabbled incoherently.

i'm told, intermittently, i appeared lucid, answering, asking, arguing, just to scream in wrack and rigor before dropping out again.

i'm told, i was not going quickly.

i'm told, i fought.

Dawn to dusk and through the dark hours.

Dawn to dusk and the dark hours.

Dawn to dusk and darkness.

i survived. i survive.

Teetering on the edge i fall back.

My vital coil, unravelled, fatigued, spent.

In truth i have little too no memory of events.
