Two peas in a pod
Have just found and favourited this subtle portrait by Ketis of her young cousin.
It's a moment frozen in time. i love the lighting, the colour palette, the atmosphere, and to my eye, the young Jude Law. To my English ears the cousin's got a mouthful of a name, but no problem, Hollywood has a long history of recreation. So if this was the green shoot, i hope i'm going to find the mature Gichucha in her new work? Time will tell.
Oh, and here's Jude in the same 'Families' (1990) action; and my "like two peas in a pod" clincher, 11yo Jude film reviewer in 1984.
edit My uncle tell's me i'm completely wrong. Well he didn't put it that politely.
Spencer Tunick
Just started browsing Enrique Centeno's Gallery and found this in his Scraps.
i had to Google Spencer's name. My thanks to Enrique for unearthing a lost memory. It must be 13 years ago, half a lifetime, i would have been 12, when i read a magazine article about Spencer and his work. The photo, i now recall, was of a much younger, early 30s, but yes to me, still very much adult old man.
i remember being both unsettled by his images and more disturbingly envious of his mass subjects. Well the men, not the women. i didn't want to even look at them. But the naked men held an attraction for me, that i thought would even get shy me to undress too
Devious Journal Entry
Sun 6th Jul, 2014Yesterday upon the stair, I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today, oh how I wish he'd go away...
– from 'Antigonish' (1899)
- Hugh Mearns (1875-1965)
Or, as i would wish:
'Yesterday upon the stair, I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today, oh how I wish he'd come to stay...'
He wrote this at 24, and now digitalised, his thought, his words, may endure for eternity.
i wonder who he was at 24, my age? Would we have been friends? Would his image have been burning bright in my nocturnal dreams? We passed upon the stair
We spoke of was and when
Although I wasn't there
He said I was hi
Yeah, cute couple.
